Experience plus the best picosecond laser technology of the PicoSure and Enlighten, to effectively treat your tattoo with better clearance and improved recovery than ever before!
Laser tattoo removal is a treatment that breaks down the ink and/or pigment into tiny particles to enable effective removal from the body. Every tattoo is unique, and the removal process is not as easy as one may think. Many factors can affect the removal process, and several treatments are generally required for completion.
Our state-of-the-art technology sets us apart from the rest. We use the PicoSure and Enlighten, two of the top picosecond laser brands in the market.
At Fresh Laser Skin Studio, we have been removing cosmetic and body tattoos since 2014. Our picosecond technology and expertise enable us to customize our treatments, resulting in more efficient and effective removal of the varying ink particle sizes, densities, and colors. Ultimately, this results in fewer treatments than other technologies.
PicoSure is the world’s first and only 755nm picosecond aesthetic laser available in the market today. In 2013, Cynosure launched this unparalleled breakthrough in laser technology that has led many other companies to follow suit. However, no one has been able to reproduce PicoSure’s technology, which remains unique in our aesthetic world today! In fact, the PicoSure laser also excels in skin rejuvenation treatments, such as our Pico Focus Facial, providing results never seen before by previous technologies and paving the road for future picosecond skin treatments.
Cutera launched their Enlighten laser after the PicoSure laser and it is now emerging as one of the premier solutions for tattoo removal and skin revitalization concerns alongside the PicoSure laser. Cutera’s Enlighten laser is the first on the market to feature both nanosecond and picosecond technology with three unique laser wavelengths (532, 1064, 670 nm).
Picosecond technology uses ultra-short pulse durations of just 10⁻¹² seconds, unlike any other laser technology. It creates an intense non-thermal, photomechanical impact that results in greater disruption of the target for better clearance without injuring the surrounding tissue. This unique PressureWave technology, combined with our four picosecond wavelengths, enables superior breakdown of difficult-to-remove ink colors or pigment into tiny particles that are more easily removed by the body. Safe for most skin tones, we are proud to provide the safest and best tattoo and pigment removal services available today!

The PicoSure and/or Enlighten laser energy is delivered to the tattoo, targeting the ink and breaking it down into smaller particles, more effectively than older technologies. These particles are then eliminated through the body’s natural processes resulting in the lightening of the tattoo ink.
Both the PicoSure and Enlighten lasers utilize pico second technology, which is a non-thermal, photo acoustic energy, making it safer for most skin tones.
We have both the PicoSure and Enlighten lasers as each tattoo is unique and can be made up of many different colours, often seen during the removal process. Not all colours respond well to the same wavelength, therefore it is important to have the ability to use the optimal wavelengths for the colour changes that may occur.
For many clients, the feeling of laser tattoo removal has been compared to what it feels like when getting a tattoo.
It is not a comfortable treatment, however it is a very fast treatment. Topical anesthetic can be used if needed and it is available for purchase or we can do in clinic, with a prescription grade topical anesthetic(extra charges apply). Pre cooling and ice rollers are also used to increase comfort and typically smaller tattoos do not require a topical anesthetic.
The ideal clinical endpoint for the laser tattoo removal treatment is an immediate slight whitening or “frosting” of the skin, which will subside immediately after the treatment is complete. Mild to moderate swelling, redness and heat sensation are common after the treatment. Cold gel packs help with comfort, covering the area with Cytoderma or V-Stat and avoiding sun exposure, will all help the healing process.
Yes, with any laser treatment, there are always risks and the possibility of side effects.
Discomfort during the treatment, redness, swelling and a heat sensation are all normal responses immediately after the treatment.
Blistering may occur within 48 hours after your treatment and may last 4-10 days, depending on the severity, followed by crusting/scabbing. It is important to not disturb the area during the healing process to avoid possible scarring.
Please refer to our Pre and Post Treatment Information located on our tattoo removal web page to read all of the possible risks and side effects associated with laser tattoo removal.
Pico second lasers allow for more of a photomechanical and a lower photothermal effect, reducing the heat related risks of other technologies. The risk of blistering does not always occur after picosecond tattoo removal, but can be more prevalent in multi-coloured tattoos, especially the reds, oranges and yellows. These colours tend to be deposited closer to the surface of the skin, causing more of a visible reaction.
It is important to note that this type of blistering is not the same as a photothermal burn and should not be disturbed during the healing process. Cold compresses following a tattoo removal treatment will help prevent excessive swelling.
If blistering occurs, please let our clinic know to update your file and follow up if needed. We know blistering does not look nice, but normally resolves on its own within 4-10 days. During this time it is important to keep the area covered, apply an antibiotic cream or similar and do not rub or pick at the area.
The number of laser treatments needed for tattoo removal is dependent on a number of variables such as ink type, size of the tattoo, location on the body, type of laser used, lifestyle habits, etc. In general we always estimate between 6-12 treatments. The number of treatments may be higher or lower depending on the many factors listed above. During your tattoo removal consultation we will evaluate your tattoo and give you a realistic treatment regime to help you achieve the best results.
Typically the body takes 4 – 8 weeks to absorb the ink particles, however every tattoo responds differently. Number of colours in the tattoo, location of the tattoo, age of tattoo are just a few things that affect the removal process. A tattoo removal consultation will help determine the length of time between treatments and appointment timing.
It is important to note that unprotected sun exposure works against the laser tattoo removal process and waiting longer in between treatments just gives the body more time to clear the ink particles.

It is important to note the tattoo removal process can be a lengthy process. We will always be assessing the removal process by taking photos and adjusting the laser parameters as necessary. We may also recommend other procedures or recommend longer wait times if needed to decrease scar tissue or stubborn pigment.
